We’re always thinking about value

“Sponsor our program and reach 100s of prospective clients” – I hear it all the time. We get calls and emails and mailers to sponsor conferences, programs, special reports, and so on.

But we always think in terms of value. I can’t understand what value sponsoring the continental breakfast really provides. Sure, people get to eat. But do they really think they wouldn’t have eaten had it not been for us.

So last year we found a way to add value, or in other words, to provide something that actually helps people. Many conferences will hand out printed packages of materials from the presenters. Sometimes you will get a CD with all the materials available. But once you use these, they are done. They have no lasting value. Our thought: what if we provided all the presentations on a USB drive? And made sure the drive was big enough that people would really use them over and over? They would receive value from them that lasts beyond the moment. So for last year’s Industry Week Best Plants Conference we provided 2GB USB drives with all the materials available. People loved them – a big hit. So this year we decided to do it again. The conference kicks off today, and we hope everyone has a great conference and learns a great deal. And of course, make sure you get value out of the conference too by reading my 4 key tips for making the most of a conference.
