The 25 Problems Problem Presentation

by Jamie Flinchbaugh on 12-02-10

This morning I am delivering a presentation for Lehigh University’s Iaccoca Institute. We will have many people from different organizations within the Lehigh Valley. The presentation is titled The 25 Problems Problem, or The 25 Straws that Broke the Manager’s Back.

The topic is how organizations have to rethink problem solving – how they are surfaced, engaged, and solved, at all levels of the organization.

  • Jamie,

Nice presentation! It’s always a temptation for the manager to take on the problems of the team. You do a great job of showing how a good manager helps the team solve its issues without taking on 25 problems. Thanks for sharing.

  • I was provided some of the feedback from this session. With permission, I am sharing it unfiltered here:

    1. Noticed 3 errors in presentation slides
    2. Right length, good topic.
    3. Handout a real plus – Thank you!
    4. Loved the examples… could always use more. Would love for Jamie to return to discuss creating a process for identifying problems.
    5. Alot of good examples across different industries
    6. Info will be useful moving forward
    7. Presenter covered many common aspects of business that are often forgotten. He should have given a brief overview of LEAN, because not everyone in audience is familiar with concept.
    8. This was excellent. Jamie was very engaging and the information was easy to understand and implement. Different than any other seminar I’ve attended. Jamie was awesome. *Great Seminar.*
    9. Great. A lot of real, concrete substance. Useful, practical, informative – no “hot air”
    10. The mix of examples was useful to grasp the concept
    11. Jamie was very well-spoken
    12. Excellent examples & dynamic
    13. Very positive and energetic – good examples
    14. Excellent topic and presentation
    15. Engaging, interesting & realistic – good information that is useful.
    16. Awesome!
    17. Very informative, widely applicable
    18. Excellent strategies practical organizationally and readily, immediately actionable.
    19. Being my first session, I had no major expectations. Jamie did a beautiful job with communicating ideas, examples, and ways to solve some challenges. *Thank you!*
    20. Practical & thoughtful. Avoided “consultantism.” De-emphasized specific tools. Emphasized fundamental approaches.
    21. Good summary of this topic, thanks.
    22. ONE OF THE BETTER PRESENTATIONS *AND* PRESENTERS ALL YEAR
    23. Very good speaker
    24. Well presented, good data points.
    25. Speaker offered some great simple tools for surfacing problems. I will definitely implement a couple of them right away.
    26. Good perspectives allowed me to be able to look at some things differently
    27. Best presentation this year for Leadership Breakfast Series. The trust presentation was a great topic – but horrible presentation. Keep to this caliber of topic and presentation by speaker. Thanks for your efforts in providing these sessions.
    28. This was an inspirational meeting. Excellent job! I’ll read your book…
