Changes for 2011

by Jamie Flinchbaugh on 01-01-11

What will you see from me in 2011?

I don’t plan to change a lot. I will continue to make adjustments as I learn how to provide this service better over time. However, there are a few things I would like to change.

1. A new column

You might have seen that I am, after 5 years, finishing my Leading Lean column with Assembly Magazine. It’s been a good run. I’ve enjoyed it. But I thought it was time to reach new audiences. Although the details are not ready to be released, I am looking forward to launching a new column in 2011.

2. More guest bloggers

I also hope to have more guest bloggers participating on the site this year. If you are interested, please let me know. I certainly welcome any of you that are already blogging. However, I would really like to encourage those that have never written an article or blog post, and have no intention of starting a blog, to make a contribution. There are so many voices that we never get to hear, but have something valuable to add. I hope to host some of these contributions.

3. Longer videos

In 2010, I did a couple short video series. Most of the videos or under 3 minutes, as this fits best with the overall blogging format. However, I feel there are opportunities to reach deeper into certain topics. I plan to do this through a few longer videos which made more model the classroom experience.

I hope you’ll continue to join me on this site through the new year. I encourage you to enter your e-mail address in the box on the right so that you may subscribe directly to my posts. I promise to take this commitment seriously, and not waste your time with content that doesn’t matter.

  • To your request for guest bloggers — when I worked on newsletter some years ago, I felt it was important to seek new voices, and I’m glad you extended a special invitation to first-time writers. I found that some of them liked having some editorial help or writing coaching. I’d be happy to help out anyone who would like to share ideas in writing but are in the situation my grandfather once described – having plenty of hay but having trouble baling it up to take to market.
