New look for 2010
I believe in small and continuous changes. I don’t often jump into something with both feet without looking. That doesn’t make me not entrepreneurial. It just makes me experimental and learning oriented. I guest blogged for 4 years before starting my own. And I’ll probably continue to tweak, experiment, and tinker with my blog including layout, look, content, and process as long as I do it.
I’ve only been at this for 4 months but decided it needed something a little more eye-appealing then just my name, so I had the logo above designed. And with some slight changes to the background, I think it looks better. What do you think?
More importantly, what other changes might you suggest? I particularly welcome feedback about my content, as that’s the main point of this whole experiment.
And a big thanks to Cindy Closkey of Big Big Design for continued support of this site.
Jamie, I admire your logo and new look. I think it is a positive reflection of your questioning, answering and learning skill. I’m looking forward to sharing and learning from you in the new year. All the best!

I like it the logo. Fresh and relevant. Content is close second.

I like the new look. How you say something or portray something (like a logo) makes more of a difference than what you say. Love the logo.

Hi Jamie
I like the new logo. One suggestion perhaps. The Tweets to the right side of your page don’t do anything for me. While admittedly not a power user of Twitter, my eye is drawn to them, and yet they practically never have relevance to the post I am reading. I would move the Recent Comments up near top and the Tweets lower.
Best wishes,
Jon

Nice look. The bubble around “Jamie” implies that your words can be quoted outside the blog, but doesn’t get blatant about it. The typeface is fresh. You might downsize the type size in “about” and upsize it in the content. I don’t have a problem with “recent tweets” though they may irrelevant to the current posts. “Recent posts” don’t need to be so high up, because they are easy to find. “Recent comments” would be more timely and show the great interaction on your blog. Links to “favorite blogs” and other resources would add value and it encourages other bloggers to reciprocate. Picture of the book in addition to title? Upcoming articles in print, and upcoming public or conference speaking engagements? I’m not sure “execute to their ideal state” is clear enough to the reader who doesn’t have all the lingo down. I like including “husband and father” in your list of roles.

Thanks for the comments everyone.
Jon, I agree and changed the flow of the column and comments are now higher on the list.
